With a host of new features, dramatically improved performance and scalability, and easier integration with enterprise IT environments, Adobe ColdFusion 8 is a must-have release for ColdFusion developers.
New in ColdFusion 8
See exactly what’s happening in your application to help identify bottlenecks and tune the server for better performance. ColdFusion 8 also features a Multiserver Monitor to gain insight on all servers in a cluster.
ColdFusion 8 applications can dynamically generate and interact with PDF documents and forms for a printable, portable way to intelligently capture and share information.
ColdFusion 8 can easily provide data to existing Ajax applications and frameworks. You can use simple tags to access a large library of prebuilt Ajax user interface components such as rich text editors, data grids, tree controls, tab navigators, and more.
With ColdFusion 8, you can specify any .NET object  either local or remote  and use it in your ColdFusion application, just like any Java™ or other object resource.
Programmatically interact with a Microsoft Exchange server to perform common tasks such as reading, creating, and modifying calendar events, contacts, tasks, and e-mail.
ColdFusion 8 introduces an Eclipseâ„¢ plug-in debugger. Use it to set breakpoints, watch variables, and step through code, making it easier to debug all your application code.

Even if most of the websites are using PHP, ASP.NET, or JSP pages, there is still a quite big market for alternative solutions. Among these there is Adobe ColdFusion, an application server and software development framework used in particular for development of dynamic web sites. If you plan on having any kinds of ColdFusion pages or applications built into your site then it will be important for you to decide on what kind of hosting you’ll be getting because you’ll need ColdFusion hosting as part of your package. There are many kinds of such hosting, some without many frills or options, and others with powerful control panels (such as efree2net.com) so you have full control over how your ColdFusion web hosting treats your code. Also keep in mind that various hosts may be working with older versions of the software, so if you specifically need ColdFusion MX hosting definitely keep that in mind.
If you have any feedback about other good ColdFusion hosting, don’t hesitate to post your comment here.

ColdFusion hosting (shared) certainly isn’t as ubiquitous as say PHP, but there are some well known hosting providers that you can use particuarly for smaller clients on a budget.
Some of the more popular ones are efree2net.com and Hosttone.com. Last week some colleagues turned me on to efree2net.com who are the cheapest I’ve ever seen, with prices as low as USD$25.00 a year (not a month…a year!). That particular plan includes free domain registration and reasonable traffic.
As usual there are concerns when putting your site on a shared host, performance probably being at the top of the list. Other concerns may be things like:
- Amount of RAM
- CPU
- Other clients/applications running (and typing up resources)
- Network speeds
- Database connectivity and speeds
- Disaster Recovery
- Stats package
- etc al
efree2net.com run Intel Xeon’s with 2.8 to 3.2 CPU’s with 2-4GB of RAM, boast 99.9% uptime and 24 x 7 x 365 customer support. Not too bad for the price. Oh and by the way, they run ColdFusion MX 7 Enterprise.

What is ColdFusion Hosting?
ColdFusion, originally developed by Allaire (then Macromedia and then ADOBE) is a suite of products that are designed to help build web pages. ColdFusion is a server scripting language similar to PHP, CGI, or ASP. It is used to create dynamic web pages. Like PHP, CGI and ASP, ColdFusion, it enables web developers to build and deploy dynamic web sites such as content publishing systems, self-service applications, e-commerce sites and more. It is an easy-to-learn tag-based language that has connectivity to enterprise level data and powerful built-in search and charting capabilities.
ColdFusion enables web developers to easily build and deploy dynamic web sites, content publishing systems, self-service applications, e-commerce sites and more. ColdFusion Server is the application that processes the CFML code. CFML is the acronym for ColdFusion Markup Language and is an extension of HTML and XML. This makes it a powerful yet easy to use language.
ColdFusion makes it easy to build a web site that interacts with your users to create rich web sites that have database capabilities.ÂÂÂÂ
What are the benefits of ColdFusion Hosting?
ColdFusion is server side technology meaning it processed by the web server. It works well with Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and Freehand. ColdFusion allows you to build and deploy powerful web services with less training time and fewer lines of code than ASP, PHP or JSP.ÂÂÂÂ
Which ColdFusion tags and functions have been restricted or disabled?
ColdFusion has several tags that should be disabled in a shared hosting environment. eFree2net.com has disabled CFDIRECTORY, CFEXECUTE and CFREGISTRY. eFree2net.com can enable CFDIRECTORY when you request.ÂÂÂÂ
